The eggscape from Tweedy’s farm”: Mathematical Adventures to Freedom
“The eggscape from Tweedy’s farm” is a game of adventure based on the successful children’s movie “Chicken Run”. Few of the chickens of Tweedy’s farm are tired from the life of laying eggs day by day and try in various ways to escape from the farm. The owners of the farm, Mrs. & Mr. Tweedy want to get rich fast. They realize that eggs alone would not be enough, and they purchase a machine to make chicken pies “…chicken gets in…pie gets out”. Horrifying from Mrs. Tweedy’s plans, now all the chickens, motivated and led by the brave chicken Ginger, are conspiring harder to escape from the farm. Under the open eyes of Mr. Tweedy and his monstrous dogs, the chickens are trying to build a flying machine that will carry them above the farm’s fence to their freedom. The background story has the elements of achieving goals, fighting for cause and against the evil (the Tweedys) and variety of chicken characters that children could easily relate to. The adventures that the chickens go through while attempting again and again to escape the farm are the corner stones upon them the mathematical concepts are built. The core mechanic of the game is a set of actions carried out through computer keyboard and a mouse. Yet, because of the variety of concepts, in some stages the player will be asked to carry out the task using a subset of the core mechanic.
